Class A- Tractor Trailer Automatic/ Manual

Upon enrolling with our school an individual training program will be created for you. For your convenience we provide training 7 days a week. You will be given study material. Range instruction will be given in our new large training yard. You will also be receiving road instructions as well

Steps Of the Road Test:

1. Pre Trip Inspection

This is the first part, during this part you are required to do the air brake testing, the in cab inspection. As well as listing all the engine compartments, steering components and all lights/ reflectors.

2. Maneuvers

The second part of the road test consist of:
  • Straight Line Backing
  • Offset Right Or Left
  • Parallel Parking

These exercises help you to learn how to control the vehicle while you are backing up.

  • Crossing Boundaries
  • Pull-Ups
  • Outside Vehicle Observations
  • Final Position

Straight Line Backing: Is driving straight back between cones and not hitting any of them.

Offset Back/Right or left: Vehicle should stay in left lane and student should move to the right lane without hitting any cones. Each movement with changing directions counts as pull-ups.
Same Way Offset backing/left: vehicle in the right line should move to the left on.

Parallel parking: you have to park your trailer truck into a parking space between cones. The driver can not hit the cones or change his moves to get in the right place. You should do it with a first try.
Each of these steps you have to do as the examiner says, otherwise you will fail the test.

After you finish with your exam, you have to place your steering wheel straight, apply brakes and use signal horn, so the examiner would know that you are finished.

3. Drive

This will be the last part of the test. At this part of the test you will drive. During the drive you will be stating out loud your actions. Example: Shouting out street signs, railroad crossing, approaching overpass/ underpass, etc.

How to Obtain Class A Permit:

  1. Pass A Department Of Transportation Physical
  2. Study For Permit- You can go down to the DMV to get the handbook to study from
  3. Take the permit test
    • General Knowledge
    • Air Brakes
    • Combination Vehicle
  4. You will also need to take an Entry Level Driving Training Course.
